Pumpkins

We went to the Fall Festival at the Greenway today.  It was a beautiful Fall day!  We went through the 3 acre corn maze, ate some barbeque, played some games, took a wagon ride and picked out a pumpkin.  It was a fun relaxing day!

 Hmmm........maybe we should look at the map.  Which way do we go now?

 We made some good time and found our way out in only 20 minutes or so.  I think that is pretty good!

Elisabeth thought we were going to have to live in there.......she got a little worried at one point.  I guess 20 minutes to a 5 year old can seem like a long time.

The very bumpy pumpkin.  It's kind of like the Christmas tree in Charlie Brown.  Will anyone really pick this pumpkin or will it be left there all alone?

Girl Scout Investiture

Ansley officially became a Girl Scout on Wednesday night.  She is very excited!  Just be prepared......she will be selling Girl Scout Cookies starting in January.  I'm sure you are on our list of people to ask to please buy some  :-)

Friends in Ecuador

A group from our church left last weekend to spend the week at 3 orphanages in Quito, Ecuador.  They are loving on children, prayer walking and handing out bibles to everyone they meet.    If you want to see a glimpse of what they have been up to please click on the link below.

The lovely Isle of Palms, SC

This past weekend we had the opportunity to spend the weekend at Isle of Palms, SC.  I seriously could live there (if I could afford it).   I LOVE it there!   John was down the week before for an Entreprenurial Forum event and all the people involved rented a house and then their families came to spend the weekend.   It was very chilly in the morning but warmed up enough in the afternoon to sit out at the beach and by the pool.  The water was way too cold for me to get in but the kids didn't seem to mind.   It was a nice break from reality.  Too bad it ended so quickly!

 It was a quirky house.  All of the bedrooms were themed.  No one but the kids wanted to sleep in this room.  Wonder why?  This was the hippie room.  It had tons of glowing stars all over the wall and ceiling.  The kids  loved it!

 There were some really big jelly fish washed up on the beach.  You had to pay attention to where you stepped.  One of the little girls in our group picked one up.  Not a good idea.  She had to make a trip to the fire station to get stuff to put on it.

You probably can't read the street sign.  It says Princess St.  The girls were thrilled that they named a street after them  ;-)

Poor Puppy :-(

We had a scare over the weekend with our dog Belle.  She ate something she shouldn't and got very very sick.  (I'll spare you the gross details of what she ate)   We had to rush her to the doggie emergency room and they had to keep her overnight and hook her up to IV's and do tests and give her medicine.  Luckily she improved very quickly and was able to come home the next day.   The kids were worried to death about her!

This is all she did after she got home.  She slept and slept.  We just had to step over and around her because she wasn't going to move.  Poor puppy  :-(

September is almost over

September is coming to a close and I realized I had a few more pictures that I never put on the blog.  So here they are in no particular order.....

 Our friends just returned from China this summer to bring sweet Jaidyn home.  She came to visit us recently.  She is such a cutie!

 Ansley got a hair cut too.  Not much length taken off but she got some short layers around her face.  She really likes it.  

This past weekend we participated in our neighborhood yard sale.  The girls (and their friend Meg) sold drinks, cookies and brownies.  They had fun doing it and made a good bit of money.

Boosterthon Fun Run

The kids school recently had a Boosterthon Fun Run to raise money for the school.  It's their big fundraiser for the year.  Kids get pledges (per lap or flat donation) and then at the end of the week they run laps around a course on the playground area.   The goal is 35 laps.  Now these laps aren't laps around a huge football field or anything but for the kids they are a good size and 35 of them is definitely alot.  Elisabeth ran in the morning so it was nice and cool outside.  Ansley ran in the afternoon and it was hot!!   They both managed to run 36 laps and had fun with the whole thing.  The Boosterthon guys are crazy and fun and get the kids all excited. The school ended up raising $30,000 or so.  I was impressed!

The Vice Principal made a bet with the kids and he lost so he had to wear something crazy.  This is what he chose.  It was hilarious!  The kids thought it was sooo funny.  He's a good sport for sure.
