Autumn Moon Celebration

Caroline Burns, Ansley, Elisabeth (Caroline is Elisabeth's best friend)

This past weekend we celebrated the Autumn Moon Festival with friends at Red Bowl restaurant. The owner and manager there close down the restaurant during the mid-afternoon and feed us. It's great! The kids love it because they can run around and be a little crazy without having to worry about disturbing other customers. This year we had a photographer come and take pictures. Hopefully they will turn out well. He will have them posted on his website soon so we can view them and see if we want to purchase any of them. Joseph, the manager at Red Bowl, had a group of young girls and boys come and play the violin for us. They played Chinese music and they were excellent! Listening to it made me want to go back to China and visit. I can't wait until we can go back for a cultural tour/vacation in 5 years or so. It's a fascinating place to visit.
FYI: The Autumn Moon Festival is one of the two most important holidays in the Chinese calendar. Traditionally, on this day, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon and to celebrate the abundance of the summer's harvest. This holiday is similar to our Thanksgiving holiday in the USA.
